Ok guys, if you’re in Chicago then you’re probably as excited as I am that the sun is finally out and you can go outside without a ton of layers weighing you down. But now, we’re faced with another dilemma, getting out of the house and finding fun activities to enjoy. Well, I’m here to calm your anxiety just a bit. Below are a list of some fun events happening in or near Chicago in the upcoming weeks. I highly encourage you to try them out and tell me what you think. It’s always fun when you can get out, grab some friends and just have a good time, no matter what you decide to do.
For my friends outside of Chicago, use my list as an inspiration to get online and find some fun events in your area. Try something new like that restaurant you’ve been dying to go to, whatever it is, for God’s sake, just promise me that you’ll have some fun. Even if you suck at cooking, go to a cooking class, what’s the worst that could happen? Ok, I can conjure up about a million bad things that can happen, but who cares, have FUN!
- Home Depot: Vertical Gardening – Free weekly workshop
Visit your neighborhood home depot to learn the basics of vertical gardening. Get how-to tips on plant selection and care. This is your chance to get your hands dirty (sorry, cheesy pun) and really learn the upkeep of different plants. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your sun hats and let’s get gardening.

- All Mixed Up (Mixology 101)
Always had a dream of becoming a bartender? This might be your chance to get your foot in the door. Learn new and fun ways to making the best cocktails. This class will teach you how to build the foundation for a home bar, including the “Top 10 essential items every bartender should keep on hand.” You’ll also learn how to utilize those items to make an impressive cocktail spread. There’s a ton to learn but also plenty of fun to be had.
Upcoming class: Friday, April 10, 7:00pm – 8:30pm. Address: 1325 W Wrightwood Avenue Chicago, IL 60614. There is a $35 fee for each participant.
This class is a part of the Happy Eats Healthy Kitchen Series. However, it also serves well as a stand-alone class. The many takeaways include basic knife skills, pantry organization, along with healthy essential staples, tools and batch cooking. This s a great start to healthy living and it’s design for cooks at all levels. The best part, recipes go home with you!
Upcoming class: Tuesday, April 14, 6:00pm – 9:30pm. Address: Near Chicago and Elizabeth. This is a residential venue. The exact location will be disclosed 24 hours in advance. There is a $75 registration fee for this course.
Here’s another class that can show you the ropes to healthy cooking. These plant-base meals will help “cleanse your system and awaken your senses.” The hands-on class features dairy-free and vegetarian recipes that are enjoyed together at the end of the two-hour course.
Upcoming class: Wednesday, April 8, 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Address: 5917 N. Broadway St., Chicago, IL 60660. There is a $55 registration fee for this class.
If you’ve ever had a bad reaction to a beauty product then this class is for you. Because of the many unregulated ingredients in cosmetics, it’s important to use healthy, whole foods on and in your body. This class highlights the health benefits of using natural ingredients and brings awareness to how your body and health are affected by them. You will learn the basics of creating natural skincare remedies as well as some tasty treats with ingredients such as olive oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil and baking soda.
